Kerala Blasters FC are exploring the possibility of playing some of their Indian Super League home fixtures in Kozhikode next season, according to club CEO Abhik Chatterjee.
Speaking to media in Kochi on Thursday, Chatterjee confirmed that the club has evaluated this option and discussions with ISL organizers have already taken place.
"We have a sizable chunk of fans in Kozhikode, which would make attending matches more convenient for them," Chatterjee explained. "While we have the intent to bring games there, several infrastructure improvements would be necessary to meet league standards."
The ISL organizers have reportedly shown openness to the concept of clubs playing matches across different venues within their home states. Chatterjee cited NorthEast United FC's model of splitting games between Guwahati and Shillong as a potential template.
"The league is receptive to the idea of teams exploring additional locations to bring matches closer to fans in different regions," he added. "We're considering something similar, though not a complete transition from our current home."
Any potential move would involve careful assessment of facilities in Kozhikode to ensure they meet ISL requirements. The club has not yet finalized these plans, but the CEO's comments indicate serious consideration is being given to the proposal.
If implemented, this approach would help Kerala Blasters connect with supporters across the state while maintaining their established presence in Kochi.
