The Swedish media hailed Filip Jorgensen as “brilliant” following Chelsea’s win against Djurgarden on Thursday night.

The Blues put one foot in the final with a 4-1 win in Sweden, with Jadon Sancho and Noni Madueke scoring in the first half, whilst Nicolas Jackson bagged a brace in the second.

With the game done Enzo Maresca was also able to hand 16-year-old midfielder Reggie Walsh his debut in the closing stages, which was a nice touch.

Swedish media impressed by Jorgensen

Maresca got his team selection spot on and used the squad really well, which hasn’t always been the case this season.

He made a number of changes, with one of those Jorgensen and the young Dane made a couple of important saves on the night.

The 23-year-old’s passing out from the back wasn’t bad either, although he was unable to keep a clean sheet as Chelsea conceded late on.

Swedish publication Fotbollskanalen actually singled Jorgensen out and labelled his performance on the night as “brilliant.”

They wrote:

“Chelsea goalkeeper Filip Jörgensen did a brilliant job but was not allowed to keep a clean sheet.”

Chelsea face goalkeeper decision in the summer

Jorgensen arrived from Villarreal last summer and briefly replaced Robert Sanchez as the club’s number one earlier this season, with Marc Cucurella impressed by what he’s seen.

Chelsea are said to have high hopes for Jorgensen, who has looked a little shaky at times in the Premier League this season.

The Denmark under-21 international has made 21 appearances in all competitions, and will likely be Chelsea’s number two next season.

It’s understood Chelsea will conduct a summer review of the goalkeeper position before deciding if they need to enter the market.

If the Blues opt against signing a new keeper they will pick two from Jorgensen, Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic and Mike Penders.

Chelsea have been linked with the likes of Gregor Kobel and Mike Maignan and it will be interesting to see what decision they end up making.
