Chelsea can send a early message to their rivals for Champions League qualification when they host Everton this weekend.

The Blues are one of five teams in the race for a top five finish in the Premier League, but go into the game against the Toffees in sixth place following midweek wins for Nottingham Forest and Manchester City.

Though with Forest and Man City in FA Cup semi-final action against each other on Sunday, it’s a chance for Enzo Maresca’s side to take advantage as victory will see them end the weekend in the top four.

Everton, meanwhile, do not have much to play for. Premier League status has been guaranteed for another season, and with a top half finish unlikely, their only real incentive is to finish above Manchester United and Tottenham.

Date, kick-off time and venue

Chelsea vs Everton is scheduled for a 12.30pm BST kick-off on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

Chelsea vs Everton team news

Malo Gusto is a major doubt after picking up a muscle problem during last weekend’s win over Fulham. Wesley Fofana will not feature and Mykhailo Mudryk remains on the sidelines.

Tyrique George is pushing for a start following his goalscoring contribution at Craven Cottage, whilst Maresca has some decision to make in attack with Nicolas Jackson struggling for form and Christopher Nkunku left out of the matchday squad last time out.

James Tarkowski could be set to miss his first Premier League game since joining Everton after suffered a hamstring injury in the loss to Man City.

Chelsea vs Everton prediction

Chelsea’s win over Fulham was a big result and it’s important they follow that up by beating Everton. It’s the early kick-off so there will be pressure on Maresca’s side and facing a team that will look to soak up pressure could be a problem.

That said, the Blues have enough quality to get the job done. The performance won’t be pretty, but with Champions League qualification at stake, results are all that matters at this stage of the season.
