Sergio Conceicao was certainly a lot happier with how his AC Milan side player against Inter last night compared to some recent outings.

The first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final tie between Milan and Inter ended 1-1 at San Siro, with Tammy Abraham getting his name on the scoresheet once again, just like he did in the Supercoppa Italiana final.

The English striker scored in the 47th minute after a lovely turn and a precise striker. Speaking of which, the lead wouldn’t last as Hakan Calhanoglu equalised with a laser of a shot of his own, from around 25 yards out.

That means the finalist will be decided on April 23, when the return derby will take place in Inter’s ‘home’ game at San Siro, and it looks like Bologna await after they won their first leg away at Empoli 3-0.

Conceicao spoke to reporters in the press conference room at San Siro after the full-time whistle – in addition to his DAZN interview – and gave his thoughts on the draw. MilanNews relayed his comments.

Did you get the feeling that Milan were a team until the end?

“The approach and attitude were there from the first to the last. During the match we made a few mistakes. But the match was balanced. In front of us there was a strong team, which knows each other very well. But it was positive.”

Was it a complicated match?

“The return match will be important for both. There are 90 minutes and something left. Today was a balanced match. There is regret for not having made it 2-0. Now we face other matches and then we really want to win the return match to go to the final.”

Were the team less courageous after the 1-0?

“We want everything to be perfect. Then during the game there are ups and downs. I liked what we did because it was what we tried in a short time starting from the arrival on Monday at four in the morning, and in two days we have another game.”

Do you have the impression that Milan can cause problems for Inter?

“Yes, I have that impression.”
