Inter Milan star striker Marcus Thuram suffers from an ankle injury and has left the France squad and returned to Milan.

This according to an official statement by the French FA on their homepage. France are scheduled to play Croatia in the quarterfinal of the UEFA Nations League.

However, Marcus Thuram will not take part in either of those fixtures due to an ankle injury. The former Borussia Mönchengladbach striker underwent medical examinations.

These results showed an ankle injury. According to the report, the player has expressed that he suffers from recurring pain in his ankle.

Furthermore, the report states that Marcus Thuram underwent consultation with the French national team Dr. Franck Le Gall.

Subsequently, he underwent medical tests. When these results arrived, Didier Deschamps decided to send him back to Milan.

This, after Marcus Thuram stated that he felt recurring pain in his left ankle.

Marcus Thuram joined Inter Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2023. To date, he has featured 84 times across all competitions for Inter scoring 31 times in the process.

Thuram found the back of the net 13 times during his first season at Inter in the Serie A. However, with 9 matches left to play he has already equaled that tally in the Serie A.

With Inter still in the Champions League as well as the Coppa Italia, Thuram is merely four goals away from reaching 20 across all competitions this season.

France will play Croatia in Split this Thursday in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League quarterfinal.

The return leg will be played on Sunday 23rd of March in France. Both ties kick-off at 20.45 CET.
