An in-form frontman can be a godsend for a promotion chaser with the finishing line in sight - and Luke Molyneux is making all the difference for Doncaster Rovers in the home straight.

The 27-year-old wideman hit a hat-trick for Rovers in their 3-0 triumph over Tranmere on Good Friday before laying on two goals for his side in an Easter Monday win over Colchester by the same margin - the latter victory catapulting Doncaster top of League Two with just two games to go in the regular season.

Grant McCann's side know a win at home to Bradford City this Saturday will confirm their promotion to League One, and they go into that high-stakes clash versus the Bantams with Molyneux in fine fettle.

In fact, no player across the top four tiers of English football has been more productive than the former Sunderland academy graduate in 2025; Molyneux with nine goals and eight assists since the turn of the year.

Only Leyton Orient's on-loan goal machine Charlie Kelman - 15 goals and two assists - can match that level of productivity this year.

Molyneux's form comes at the sharp end of a 2024/25 campaign in which he has scored 16 goals and supplied 12 assists in total.

That constitutes a fine return from the winger who spoke of his desire to exorcise the demons of play-off defeat in 2023/24 in an exclusive interview with Playmaker last November - check out the full article here.
