The brass at Espanyol have identified a member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga rivals RCD Mallorca as a potential summer signing.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Relevo, who point towards Leo Román as the player in question.
The name of shot-stopper Román has of course taken its place centre stage in the headlines across Spain over the course of recent days.
This comes after the 24-year-old conjured up one of the performances of the La Liga season to date.
En route to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of table-topping Barcelona, Román racked up a remarkable 12 saves over the course of the 90 minutes.
And such efforts, it would appear, have not gone at all unnoticed on the part of those behind the scenes at Espanyol.
As per MD, amid an ongoing search for a replacement for Joan García – in the sights of some of Europe’s leading clubs – Román’s name has been marked in red.
With Dominik Greif still considered the no.1 in Jagoba Arrasate’s Mallorca squad, a deal being worked out between the sides is not considered as being at all out of the question.
