Everyone can learn from Kovacic, says Brown | OneFootball

Michael Brown says Mateo Kovacic is a perfect example for his Manchester City team-mates to follow.

Kovacic played a starring role in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final victory over Nottingham Forest, assisting Rico Lewis for the opener before dominating the midfield until his late substitution.

The Croatian international is chasing a fifth major honour as we approach the end of his second season at the Etihad Stadium.

Having played for the likes of Inter, Real Madrid and Chelsea during his career, Brown is most impressed by the No.8’s humility as he hunts yet more silverware.

So much so, he believes that the likes of Nico O'Reilly should be absorbing all the knowledge they can from the 30-year-old.

“Kovacic set it all off,” said Brown on Matchday Live after the full-time whistle.

“He drives into positions and knows when to go and when not to. It’s so amazing that what he’s won, he takes it all in his stride.

“He’s so humble and such a lovely person. He’s a real team player and everyone can learn from him, especially Nico O’Reilly.”

Meanwhile, the victory means we’re through to a third straight FA Cup final.

After a testing campaign across the Premier League and Champions League, former City man Brown says reaching the showpiece proves the quality of this squad.

“You don’t take it lightly,” he stated.

“It’s a final! That’s where history is made. You see these celebrations and then you start to think ‘can you win a trophy?’ We keep winning and winning.”
