Hugo Larsson does loom as a player who could potentially replace players such as Ilkay Gundogan or Mateo Kovacic. Larsson typically plays as a box-to-box midfielder and his best attributes would appear to slot in best in a similar role to the one that either Mateo Kovacic or Ilkay Gundogan play. Larsson would be a player who could play alongside Rodri or form a midfield trio alongside Rodri and Nico for example. Larsson’s game does appear suited to the Premier League and with his size and athleticism. Those two attributes alone would also add an element to Manchester City’s midfield that has been missing at times this season. You couple that with Hugo Larsson’s technical ability and you can see why Manchester City would be interested in signing the Swedish midfielder this summer.
