How desperate Manchester United could outflank Chelsea for top striker target

Chelsea ended up their game against Fulham on Sunday with a teenage winger without a Premier League goal up front for them.
That shows how important it is that the Blues sign a striker this summer. But they’re not the only ones with a squad desperately in need of improvement up top.
After Joshua Zirkzee limped off, Man United ended their game against Lyon last week with an even more troubling front line consisting of centre-back Harry Maguire flanked by two central midfielders.

It’s no wonder, then, that both teams are being put in the mix as potentially interested in signing Ipswich striker Liam Delap, and according to top scout Mick Brown, the Red Devils could be more than ready to outflank us on this one:
“Delap is on a lot of clubs’ lists. I’m not so sure he’ll be convinced by the move to Chelsea,” Brown said in quotes picked up by CaughtOffside.
“There’s been a lot of talk about him at Man United, and if you’re Delap you can look at that United team and feel confident you can make your mark there. The options they’ve got at the moment are not good enough, so Amorim can promise him he will get regular minutes as their starting striker.”
“I don’t think he can do the same at Chelsea, Newcastle or any of the other top sides. They’ve signed a lot of players who can’t get in the team or haven’t played enough – Delap doesn’t want to become another one of those. He needs to go somewhere he’s going to play, and he knows he’s going to play at United.”
We would argue that he would play plenty at Chelsea – but there’s no denying that we’ve at least got one decent striker, while United seem to have none.
