Zlatan Ibrahimovic has spoken out about his recent absence and media silence, responding to a question about sporting director position.
Milan got two comeback wins before the international break against Lecce and Como, after a run of three defeats seemed to have put any top four hopes to bed. However, this promises to be a different test entirely against a team pushing for the title.
The Rossoneri are unbeaten in each of their last six away matches (won three, drew three) against Napoli in all competitions and have they never gone seven successive games on the road without defeat against the Azzurri in their history.
Ibrahimovic spoke to DAZN moments before kick-off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, speaking about his absence from Milanello and the rumours of disagreements with Giorgio Furlani. His comments were relayed by MilanNews.
They’ve been talking about you so much these past 20 days, they all wanted to know where you were…
“I was sick, I cut my hair and my body went into shock. Jokes aside, I was sick, I had a virus, I even lost 3kg. But now I’m better and I’m present.”

Will you continue to help?
“I’m here to help everyone, on and off the field. Like before, present and future.”
How important is it to have a sporting director figure in your group?
“There is a lot of talk about this figure, we are united. We are talking every day to understand what is needed and what is not needed, then I cannot go into details.
“I saw that they wrote that I argued with Furlani and other things, but they are all lies, invented. I talk to Furlani every day about everything, before, today and tomorrow. I am here to help everyone. On the pitch I hope things go better, and off the pitch too.”

An urban legend tells of a visit you made to Naples with Cannavaro… Was there a moment when you thought it could be the right city?
“Yes, I was close, it was 5-6 years ago. It didn’t happen and it was destiny, maybe it wasn’t supposed to happen. When I entered the field now it gave me a lot of adrenaline, if I remember correctly in the last game here I scored two goals.
“I have good memories in this stadium. Yes it’s true, Cannavaro took me around… He drove… No, I can’t say everything (laughs).”
