Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries is currently on the sidelines with a thigh injury. And a return does not look to be immediately in sight.

The former PSV wingback suffered the problem just before the international break. It forced him off in Inter’s Serie A clash with Atalanta before the break.

Prior to that, Dumfries had enjoyed a run as a virtual everpresent in the Nerazzurri starting eleven.

Denzel Dumfries pulled out of the Netherlands squad during the international break.

And it was always clear that the 28-year-old would need a few weeks to heal from his injury.

Dumfries had spent the past couple of weeks undergoing physiotherapy in the Netherlands.

However, the Dutchman is back in Milan now.

Inter are naturally anxious to understand more clearly the recovery timeline for Denzel Dumfries.

The Nerazzurri still have a slew of big matches on the way over the rest of April. There are both legs against Bayern Munich and the second leg against AC Milan, as well as several Serie A matches.

And according to Tuttosport, Dumfries could miss more or less all of these.

The newspaper report that optimism is not filtering out from Inter.

The Nerazzurri fear that Dumfries may be out until the end of the current month.

Therefore, Inter will wait with baited breath for the 28-year-old to undergo medical tests. He will undergo tests with the club’s doctors at the end of this coming week, reports Tuttosport.
