Inter and Milan have both been handed fines as a result of an investigation into the relationships between the clubs, staff and the ultras, while Simone Inzaghi and Hakan Calhanoglu will have to serve one-match suspensions, reports on Thursday confirm.

An investigation into the relationships between Inter, Milan, their players, coaches, executives and certain supporters was opened in November following the arrests of several ultras with suspected links to mafia families on September 30.

The inquest began as a result of the murder of Antonio Belocco, a leading member of Inter’s Curva Nord, by a fellow supporter at the beginning of September.

It was later revealed that a number of high-profile coaches and players, including Inzaghi, Calhanoglu, Davide Calabria and Nerazzurri vice-President Javier Zanetti had either met or had discussions with ultras.

It has now been confirmed that some of those conversations have broken FIGC rules.

According to reports from various outlets in Italy, including Sky Sport Italia, Inzaghi and Calhanoglu have both negotiated one-match suspensions and a pair of fines (€15,000 for the coach and €30,000 for the midfielder) with the FIGC Prosecutors Office.

Both were found to have breached Articles 4 and 25 of the code of sporting justice, the latter of which prohibits players and coaches from having relationships with fans who are not part of officially affiliated supporter groups.

This means that Inzaghi and Calhanoglu will both be suspended for the upcoming Serie A match between Inter and Hellas Verona on Saturday.

This is part of a plea bargain with the FIGC, which means that neither will be taken to trial.

In addition to the bans and fines given to Inzaghi and Calhanoglu, Inter have also been fined €70,000 and Milan have been ordered to pay a €30,000 penalty fee.

Additionally, Inter vice-President Javier Zannetti will have to pay a €14,500 fine. Claudio Sala and supporter liaison officer Massimiliano Silva will also have to pay a €14,500 fine and will be suspended for a period of 30 days.

Milan’s supporter liaison officer, Fabio Pansa, will have to pay a €13,000 fine and will also be suspended for 30 days.

Former Milan defender Davide Calabria, now of Bologna, was also one of the players investigated by the FIGC.

He will be heard by Giuseppe Chine in the coming days and could also negotiate a plea bargain, otherwise, he could have to stand trial in the federal courts.
