Arsenal actually lost their most-recent visit to Portman Road, defeated 1-0 in the first leg of a League Cup semi-final in 2011, having won six of their seven previous visits to Suffolk beforehand.
By the end of Easter Sunday, Liverpool could be crowned champions and Ipswich could be relegated, with this fixture having a baring on both. Even though their Premier League title hopes have been over for a little while now, Arsenal supporters making the 73 mile journey north east to Suffolk will do so in boisterous mood, after a famous victory in mid-week. Despite being 3-0 up from the first leg, Gooners everywhere were terrified about the possibility of a remontada against Real Madrid.
As it transpired, they have no reason to be, because Mikel Arteta's team actually went to the Bernabéu and won 2-1, with Bukayo Saka breaking the deadlock before Gabriel Martinelli rubber stamped a famous win in stoppage time. So now, in only the third Champions League semi-final of their entire history, the Gunners will take on Paris Saint-Germain, with the French champions visiting North London in just nine days time. Before then, can Arteta's side claim three points in Suffolk? Defeat for Arsenal would see Liverpool secure the title with victory at Leicester later in the day.
As for Ipswich Town, their relegation will be confirmed if they are beaten here, West Ham defeat Southampton on Saturday and Wolves win at Old Trafford concurrently; all very plausible. Kieran McKenna's team are 14 points from safety with six matches remaining, despite an excellent display last Sunday. Goals from Julio Enciso and then Ben Johnson had the Tractor Boys 2-0 up at Stamford Bridge by half time, but they could not hold on, Chelsea roaring back to claim a share of the spoils.
So, the Blues have still only won once in 2025, winning just four matches all season, with an expedient return to the EFL Championship their fate. To date, Ipswich's sole Premier League home win came over Chelsea in December, so can they claim another scalp on Easter Sunday?
Arijanet Muriç, Kalvin Phillips, Sammie Szmodics, Jaden Philogene, Chiedozie Ogbene and Wes Burn are all injured, as is Omari Hutchinson, who will miss out with a reunion against his former side.
However, top-scorer Liam Delap is likely to return, after George Hirst was handed a rare start at Stamford Bridge. This though is the only change Kieran McKenna is forecast to make.
Ipswich Town predicted lineup vs Arsenal: (4-5-1): Palmer; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Burgess, Davis; Cajuste, Morsy, Johnson, Clarke, Enciso; Delap.
Ipswich were indebted to goalkeeper Alex Palmer for the point they earnt at Chelsea, and the January goalkeeper could be in for another busy afternoon here.
Even though the first leg against PSG is nine days away, Mikel Arteta would surely like to rotate with that tie in mind. However, given that Gabriel, Riccardo Calafiori, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jorginho, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are all injured, he has little scope to do just that.
If he does tinker from Wednesday's win at the Bernabéu, Benjamin White, Kieran Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Ethan Nwaneri and Leandro Trossard are the most-likely candidates to come back in.
Mikel Merino has been exceptional since being forced to fill in as the emergency striker, scoring six goals and providing three assists, so will his hot-streak in front of goal continue?
Even though Arsenal's priorities lie elsewhere, we are forecasting that the Gunners will have too much quality for Ipswich, thereby leaving Portman Road winners on Sunday: Ipswich Town 0-2 Arsenal.
