Former Chelsea captain John Terry has insisted that one of his former Blues team mates could still do a job in the Premier League today.

The news comes after Chelsea were defeated by Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon, losing to a first half headed goal by Mikel Merino.

EXCLUSIVE! Results of Cole Palmer’s injury scan have come back, and there’s good and bad news!

The game was obviously not without its drama and Chelsea fans saw what they expect to see every time Robert Sanchez starts, and that is him making a silly mistake and giving away a goal. This time he got lucky, but Maresca continued to back his goalkeeper at the full time whistle once again.

Meanwhile, Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber was seen mocking Maresca on the side lines in an interaction that has annoyed Blues fans even more.

All in all it wasn’t a good performance from Chelsea and it lacked intensity, desire, energy, and any kind of real belief that they could get something from the game.

We are now into an international break and a chance for Chelsea’s players and Maresca to have a bit of a reset before our next game against Tottenham!

Terry says Mikel could still play

Terry, who played behind John Obi Mikel in one of Chelsea’s most successful teams of all time, believes Mikel could still play in the Premier League today.

The 37-year-old played his last football game for Kuwait SC back in October 2021.

‘He was brilliant,’ said Terry. ‘To have him in front of me playing was brilliant. He covered so much ground.

‘I still play in ex-Legends games now and stuff and he can still play. He could still play in the Premier League today. He had it all didn’t he?

‘Those holding midfielders like Makelele get recognised. There’s certain players in that role that don’t get the credit they deserve. And Obi was one of them.’
