Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is eager to prolong his stay at the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 39-year-old wants to continue representing Madrid for one more season. His current deal expires this summer.
While no decision has been made over his future, the Spanish giants could offer a new deal to the midfielder following his impressive performances this season
Modric has amassed 44 appearances in all competitions this term, bagging four goals and seven assists.
His spectacular performances against Valencia and Girona in La Liga show that he hasn’t lost his touch yet.
Modric’s importance will only grow in the final stretch of the season following the hamstring injury to midfielder Dani Ceballos at the end of the last month.
Having already etched his name in the upper echelons of Madrid’s history, Modric’s hunger to succeed hasn’t stopped.
He has a great chance of adding more titles to his stacked trophy cabinet, with Los Blancos in the pursuit of a treble this season.
Modric wants to remain in the best shape possible for next year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
He led Croatia to a runner-up finish in 2018 and third place in the next edition. He was also the player of the tournament in 2018, winning the Golden Ball.
Modric is set to lead Croatia in the quarter-finals of the Nations League against France this week.
