Manchester United are reportedly prepared to take a massive loss on Rasmus Hojlund to permanently offload him during the summer transfer window.
Hojlund has endured an immensely challenging season, with United currently sitting in 14th place in the Premier League table.
With only three Premier League goals to his name this season, his underwhelming display in the 1-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday served as yet another reminder that he’s currently not up to the task of leading the line as United’s first-choice striker.
Alan Shearer branded Hojlund “a damaged player” following his tepid display against Vitor Pereira’s men.
It has been suggested that United could cut their losses in the upcoming window and sell Hojlund, who is attracting interest from Italy.
Antonio Conte’s Napoli have been linked to him, while Juventus are also believed to be admirers of the 22-year-old.
A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United value Hojlund at €60m (£51m). The Red Devils forked out £64m, plus a further £8m in add-ons to lure him from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.
However, The Guardian have now revealed that United are prepared to accept as little as £30m for the misfiring Dane. £30m would represent less than half of the initial payment Amorim’s side made to land him.
Securing a replacement for Hojlund remains a top priority for United and a number of targets are already being lined up.
The 20-time English champions are closing in on Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha. United are also exploring a deal for Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen, who is currently on loan at Galatasaray. Another option on the table is Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap.
Selling Hojlund would go a long way in helping United land their primary attacking targets.
United are back in action on Sunday when they go away to the Vitality Stadium to face Bournemouth. Kick-off is at 14:00 BST.
