Marcus Edwards transfer made permanent after promotion

Marcus Edwards will be a Burnley player on a permanent basis next season after the Clarets secured promotion yesterday.

The 26-year-old joined Burnley on an initial loan from Sporting CP with the added proviso that the deal would be made permanent if the Lancashire side ensured their Premier League status for the 2025/26 season.

With promotion assured on Easter Monday, former Tottenham Hotspur man Edwards will be in line to make his Premier League debut.

Burnley will pay €10 million to the Portuguese side for the privilege in a deal that looks like good business considering the impact that Edwards' arrival has made this season.

Edwards has featured 15 times for Burnley in all competitions, scoring twice and assisting one.
