In less than ten days, FC Barcelona will clash against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the finals of the Copa del Rey in Seville.

The Blaugrana have had the upper hand over Carlo Ancelotti’s men this season – beating them convincingly in La Liga and then in the Spanish Super Cup final.

Hansi Flick & co. will now be eager to complete a hat-trick of victories over the Spanish capital club on their way to lifting another trophy. And, they may have now been handed a boost in that regard.

Kylian Mbappe is a doubt for the cup final

After all, Real Madrid superstar forward Kylian Mbappe is now seen as a doubt for the Copa del Rey final due to an injury, according to L’Equipe.

The 26-year-old French international suffered an ankle sprain during Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League clash last night, which they lost 1-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Mbappe, who had a quiet game, suffered the injury in the second half while trying to avoid a tackle from Declan Rice and had to be taken off the pitch soon after.

The attacker will undergo tests in the coming day or two to determine the extent of the damage he has sustained but as things stand, his availability for the cup final is seen as uncertain.

Barcelona did not have a lot of problems dealing with Mbappe in the last couple of matches, with their offside trap working effectively to neutralise the Real Madrid forward.

Even then, his potential absence that too in a final match, will be a major boost for the Catalans, who themselves are set to be without a key player in Alejandro Balde.
