Pascal Groß has suffered a slight ligament injury in his knee following the 3-2 victory against Borussia Mönchengladbach at Signal Iduna Park. The club released a statement on the matter, confirming that the German international will not be available for the weekend match-up against Hoffenheim.

Pascal Groß has been instrumental to Borussia Dortmund's aspirations over the past few weeks, winning a penalty against FC Barcelona in the Champions League and adding another assist to his BVB resume. The midfielder has 14 goal contributions for Borussia Dortmund in 43 matches in all competitions.

Since Niko Kovač joined the club in the winter, Groß has become even more involved with the first team as a key presence in the midfield. The Croat seems to have the veteran in high regard, as he paid compliments to him following the Champions League clash against the Catalans:

"He is an experienced player who has already been through a lot. He has a very broad mind and demands a lot. The way he did against Barcelona - that is what I want! He is responsible and wants to take things into his own hands."Niko Kovač

Without Pascal Groß to play alongside Felix Nmecha, the most likely substitute would be Carney Chukwuemeka, who also subbed Maxi Beier after his injury break in the first half against Gladbach and had a significant impact in the match. Besides the young Britishman, Julian Brandt, who has lost his starting role in the past week, could have another shot to impress, even with an underwhelming season so far.
