Looking at the Newcastle team v Leicester.

Eddie Howe and his players hoping to continue their winning form.

Premier League victories over West Ham and Brentford, either side of that magnificent performance and triumph at Wembley against Liverpool, to bring back to Tyneside the first silverware in 56 years, the first domestic trophy in 70 years.

So, what can we expect the Newcastle team v Leicester to be?

Eddie Howe confirming on Friday morning that three Newcastle United players would definitely be missing tonight.

Jamaal Lascelles, Lewis Hall and Sven Botman unavailable due to injury.

However, Anthony Gordon completed his three match suspension against Brentford.

Eddie Howe’s with team news on Friday morning ahead of Monday’s match:

” I will see them [Joelinton, Kieran Trippier and Alexander Isak] for the first time today.

“We don’t think we have any big injuries from Wednesday night [against Brentford] but we have a few niggles.

“We are monitoring Anthony [Gordon], he is still recovering. He has done individual training not group training, we will have to wait and see.”

So where does that leave us…

My predicted Newcastle team v Leicester:

Pope, Trippier, Schar, Burn, Livramento, Tonali, Bruno, Joelinton, Barnes, Isak, Murphy

This is the starting eleven that won 1-0 at West Ham back on 10 March. Eddie Howe then keeping faith with the same team at Wembley. Then again against Brentford.

This team making it three wins in a row.

I think that unless injury prevents anybody from playing again, Eddie Howe will play the same team four matches in a row.

On the other hand, I can’t see Eddie Howe taking any unnecessary risks either, so if he does think that by playing somebody, they will have a far higher chances of picking up a longer-term injury, he will play safe. Especially with eight more big games to follow, including two in quick succession next Sunday (Man U) and the following Wednesday (Palace).

I suppose the big talking point is Anthony Gordon but even if passed fit and available to start, I think Eddie Howe will use him as an impact sub, rather than throwing him straight back in.

Harvey Barnes returning to his old club and no doubt extra determined to show Leicester fans what they are missing.
