The Sky Blues have been enjoying a superb transformation under Frank Lampard this season, having gone from early-season relegation candidates at the time of his arrival, to genuine promotion contenders.

As a result, Coventry now sit one place and three points above their local rivals West Brom heading into this monumental clash, which could go a long way to deciding the respective fates of both clubs this season.

The Baggies were able to snap a three-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over Watford last time out, and as such, they'll come into this game with confidence that they can escape with a result.

It's set to be a brilliant game between these two play-off chasing and local rivals, and Football League World takes a look at all the players who are set to play no part in it, starting with the home side Coventry.

Victor Torp

The first of the two confirmed absentees for Coventry City, midfielder Victor Torp has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old Dane left the 1-0 win over Portsmouth on 9 April on a stretcher after just 22 minutes had been played, and has since been confirmed to have suffered ligament damage in his ankle.

Oliver Dovin

Another Sky Blues star who's seen his season cut short through injury: goalkeeper Oliver Dovin suffered a nasty anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in the 3-1 defeat to Sheffield United on 28 March.

The Swedish shot-stopper was stretchered off at Bramall Lane, and given the nature of his injury, no target date has yet been placed on his eventual return.

Ephron Mason-Clark

Doubt

Coventry winger Ephron Mason-Clark was an absentee from City's 1-1 draw with Hull last time out, after suffering a foot problem that flared up in the 1-0 win over Portsmouth on 9 April.

Lampard has said that the 25-year-old remains a work in progress in regard to his recovery from said injury, but has confirmed that he will return before the end of the season.

Bobby Thomas

Doubt

One of Coventry City's standout players under Lampard, centre-back Bobby Thomas is currently dealing with a "small calf issue."

The 24-year-old also missed City's meeting with Hull, with the Sky Blues boss simply stating that they will try and get the defender back as soon as possible.

Like Mason-Clark, Lampard has also confirmed that he will return before the end of the season.

Josh Eccles

Doubt

Central midfielder Josh Eccles hasn't been seen since coming on as a late substitute in the 3-0 win over Sunderland on 15 March.

The 25-year-old has been dealing with a calf problem over the last few weeks, but Lampard has been able to offer light at the end of the tunnel for the midfielder.

Speaking via The Coventry Telegraph prior to Coventry's meeting with West Brom, Lampard said: "Josh is back training with us, as of yesterday (Wednesday), albeit a bit partial, but very close to being ready to be involved again."

Brandon Thomas-Asante

Doubt

Striker Brandon Thomas-Asante has been dealing with a pelvic issue for a little while now, having last been seen in the Sky Blues' 3-2 win over Stoke City on 8 March.

However, Lampard has also been able to offer an encouraging update on the fitness of the 26-year-old ahead of the clash with the Baggies.

The Coventry boss said: "Brandon has trained over the last couple of days so he’s close as well."

Semi Ajayi

Doubt

Having picked up his second hamstring injury of the season in late February, experienced centre-back Semi Ajayi looks set to miss the trip to Coventry City on Good Friday.

Albion boss Tony Mowbray has confirmed that the 31-year-old has been back in training this week, but it is expected that Friday's game will come too quick for the Nigerian international.

Ousmane Diakite

Doubt

Mowbray has confirmed that 24-year-old central midfielder Ousmane Diakite hasn't trained in the week leading up to Friday's meeting with Coventry.

As such, the former Malian youth international looks set to play no part at The CBS Arena.

Tammer Bany

Doubt

As is the case with Diakite, attacking midfielder Tammer Bany has also failed to train this week.

Therefore, the 21-year-old winter arrival from Randers FC also looks set to miss Friday's Midlands derby.

Josh Maja

Doubt

Perhaps the absence that West Brom have been feeling the most in recent weeks, Josh Maja was on course to be a potential Championship golden boot winner this season before his untimely injury in early January.

The 26-year-old hasn't been seen since the 1-1 draw with Swansea City on 4 January, but, Mowbray has revealed that the Nigerian is closing in on a return to action.

Speaking via The Express & Star, Mowbray said: "I was coming off the training pitch on Tuesday and walking past the pitch at the front and he's on the grass with his boots on running, doing fitness work.

"It's the first time I've seen him on the grass with his boots on. I'm not sure how long the medical team wants to see him twist, turn and jump and stuff like that, dynamic stuff.

"He's getting closer, but obviously the season is three weeks or potentially five weeks away from the end, so if he's going to be back he's got to start to join in well some time soon."
