Just like that, the first international break of 2025 is upon us, with plenty of people no doubt glad to have a break from club football. Over this break, we will try to keep you up to date with all of Borussia Dortmund's international players. Let's start with those that will be representing the German national team, and then discuss everyone else.
Last week, Julian Nagelsmann called up three Dortmund players for the Nations League double-header with Italy - as Nico Schlotterbeck, Pascal Groß, and Karim Adeyemi all got the nod. Out of the players who started in the defeat to RB Leipzig - Emre Can, Waldermar Anton, Julian Brandt, and Maxi Beier have all been left out.
Although Schlotterbeck and Groß were in the latest squad back in November, and have recently been regulars under Naglesmann - this is Adeyemi's first call up since the 2022 World Cup - where he was an unused sub for three games. If he gets on the pitch, it would be his first appearance since the 11th of June, in a Nations League game against Hungary.
At the moment, Schlotterbeck has the most caps of the three with 18, whilst Groß has 12, and Adeyemi has four to his name. Considering Groß didn't make his debut until he was 32, he is doing quite well for himself.
As mentioned above, Germany are set to take on Italy in the quarter-finals of the same tournament - the first time the competition has had a quarter-final stage. The first leg will take place in Italy on Thursday, the 20th of March at 20:45 CET, whilst the second leg will take place at Signal Iduna Park on Sunday, the 23rd of March, also at 20:45 CET.
