Marcus Rashford has hit the ground running in an Aston Villa shirt and is having the exact impact Unai Emery would’ve desired when negotiating a loan deal for the Manchester United graduate.
Following a bizarre turn of events that culminated with him essentially being exiled from his boyhood club, Rashford has donned a different side’s colours for the first time in his footballing career.
A move to the Midlands outfit provided the forward with the opportunity to play in the remaining stages of the Champions League, where the side take on Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals, as well as being in contention to secure Europe – in some form – for the 2025/2026 campaign; Villa sit seventh-placed after last night’s 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion and are only three points off of the top four.
In his first 11 appearances since making the switch, Rashford has notched three goals and four assists. It took him seven games before he opened his account in front of goal, but did so in style by notching a brace to book the team’s spot in the semi-finals of the FA Cup. He added to his tally again against the Seagulls and will look to continue his streak when Villa host Nottingham Forst on Saturday evening.

When the end of the season rolls around, Villa hold the option of signing Rashford permanently for a fee of £40 million. However, one factor that’s currently making them think twice is his extortionate wages; he has been taking home £350,000 per week at Old Trafford following his contract extension in 2023 – a fee that is simply inconceivable for Villa to match.
With that in mind, Football Insider claims the 27-year-old, who was recalled to the England setup in Thomas Tuchel’s first two matches, would be willing to take a pay cut if it means he can continue at Villa Park.
The fee United stand to recuperate through Rashford’s sale would generate a straight profit.
