Édier Ocampo netted the equalizer in the 56’ as Vancouver pieced together an excellent build-up play to break down the Monterrey defense.

Brian White, who subbed on in the second half, came up clutch as he snuck behind the defense and scored a go-ahead strike in the 78’ for Whitecaps FC.

White has now scored five career goals in the Champions Cup, tying Cristian Techera for the most in Whitecaps FC history in the modern era of the tournament.

Sergio Ramos converted a penalty kick chance in the 90’+7 after a handball in the box was called on Vancouver. The Rayados captain equalized the aggregate, but the Mexican side could not earn the additional goal to avoid elimination.

The MLS side advances to the quarterfinals, where it will face either Pumas UNAM or LD Alajuelense.
