Sam Amo-Ameyaw believes Strasbourg's dressing room atmosphere is more united than Southampton.

In recent years, not just Southampton's performance has fallen levels, but their unity has been compromised too. In fact, it's been a snowballing consequence of the latter that hasn't seen the Saints improving.

Once a wise man said, "When you play in a team, the name on the front of the shirt is more important than the one on the back." Sadly, this feeling has gone missing in the Saints camp now.

And it's result? The growth of an individualistic approach in the minds of Saints players. Naturally, the collective success feels curtailed.

However, it’s still one thing for fans and pundits to suspect these issues, but when former players start speaking out the same, it confirms the cracks behind the scenes.

Take, for instance, the example of loanee star Sam Amo-Ameyaw.

Within weeks of an exceptional Ligue 1 debut, Amo-Ameyaw has become one of the brightest Strasbourg talents now. To note, recently, the 18-year-old added his first league goal too.

Naturally, it was a day to remember for the teenager, who looked deservedly happy for his inaugural Ligue 1 goal. But, unwillingly or willingly, Amo-Ameyaw revealed something that would surely discomfort the St. Mary's faithful.

Amo-Ameyaw compares Strasbourg's atmosphere with Southampton

As quoted by the Daily Echo, speaking on his Strasbourg experiences compared to Southampton, he said: "When I came here, I was very shocked at how together everyone is. Everyone here is very close, they are all friends. Everyone speaks to everyone."

Well, if you think this statement might influence a mentality change at Southampton, you're probably mistaken.

Truth be told, if Amo-Ameyaw's claim has done anything, it has curtained any slim chances of his return to the Saints camp. Such has been the dressing room environment at Southampton lately.

But again, if this continues, the dream of returning to glory days feels much more complicated for the Saints fans. Unless something changes, Southampton’s road back to the top will remain an uphill battle.
