AC Milan have decided to sack underperforming manager Sergio Conceicao at the end of the season (h/t journalist Fabrizio Romano).

The Portuguese boss initially instilled hope among the Milan faithful by beating arch-rivals Inter Milan in the Italian Super Cup.

However, that proved to be a false dawn as Milan have since endured a troubled run in Serie A and the Champions League.

The 1-0 home defeat against Atalanta on Sunday was the final nail in the coffin, leaving Milan ninth in the table.

Their Champions League qualification hopes are all but over as they are nine points adrift of fourth-placed Bologna.

The former Porto boss can salvage some pride by winning the Coppa Italia, but that will not stop Milan from recruiting a new manager this summer.

Milan have also opted against signing Joao Felix permanently following his dismal loan spell. He will return to Chelsea at the end of the season.

The club’s situation has piled further pressure on owners RedBird Capital Group, whose questionable decision-making has been scrutinised.

Milan are expected to undergo a massive squad overhaul in the summer transfer window, with a new manager to lead the project.

Massimiliano Allegri and Antonio Conte are among the managers on Milan’s wishlist.

Allegri has been out of management since leaving Juventus last year and could be open to taking over at Milan.

Conte is leaning towards staying at Napoli following an outstanding 2024/25 campaign, where he could lead them to the Scudetto.
