Arsenal have been improving under Mikel Arteta in the last few seasons, but the club have still not got their hands on the Premier League trophy. Liverpool are the favourites to win the title this season as well and hence, the Gunners must be making some big changes in the squad in the summer transfer window. The club should have plans in place to get the right kind of profiles.
Mikel Arteta should be looking to sign a natural full-back because he has been playing centre-backs in that position. Fichajes has reported that Arsenal want to sign Jesus Areso in the summer. The 25-year-old has impressed with his performances for CA Osasuna and hence, the Gunners feel that he would be the perfect signing for the club.
The Spaniard is currently one of the best left-backs in La Liga and, hence has some of the finest suitors in the transfer market. The talented Spanish full-back brings a lively mix of grit and flair to the pitch. Known for his relentless energy, he charges up and down the flank with a work rate that wears opponents down.
Areso’s defensive tenacity shines through in tight marking and timely tackles, while his quick feet and sharp crossing add an attacking edge. His versatility lets him adapt seamlessly, whether bombing forward or holding the line. With a cool head under pressure and a knack for reading the game, the Spaniard is a reliable team player who blends hustle with skill, making him a standout at Osasuna.
He has conceded 26 goals and kept 5 clean sheets in 25 matches in the La Liga 2024/2025 season. That means when Areso Blanco is on the pitch, his team concedes a goal every 82 minutes. The Gunners need a quality full-back, so he could be a perfect option to play under Mikel Arteta. There should be no harm in Arsenal making the move for the Osasuna man in the summer if they do get him at a decent price. It now remains to be seen if the club do intensify their efforts to sign him.
