Frenkie de Jong was the big absentee for Barcelona in their comeback victory over Atletico Madrid on Sunday.
The Dutchman was expected to start against Atleti but was ruled out due to discomfort. Despite that, he remained with the Netherlands camp, with coach Ronald Koeman confirming that he had stomach problems.
Koeman even joked that de Jong could have eaten something at Barcelona that made him sick.
Nevertheless, de Jong has returned to training in the Netherlands camp after overcoming his stomach problems, reports SPORT.
It appears the midfielder took part in the morning training session behind closed doors, in what could be a massive boost for the Netherlands.
De Jong, after all, is expected to play a key role for the Oranje in their upcoming UEFA Nations League quarterfinal against Spain.

Interestingly, the Dutchman is likely to take on some of his Barcelona teammates, including Pau Cubarsi and Pedri, among others, as he looks to steer the Netherlands into the semis of the Nations League.
It must be noted that de Jong was not present in Monday’s training session, though that didn’t stop Koeman from announcing that the midfielder would be free to play against Spain.
With de Jong now finally back to training, there is no one stopping the Barcelona star from starting against La Roja this week.
De Jong’s return will be a boost for Barcelona as well, especially after the Catalans were dealt two fresh injuries, in the form of Marc Casado and Inigo Martinez.
Casado’s absence, in particular, means that Hansi Flick will have to bank on de Jong’s services in midfield, with no real alternatives.
Therefore, it is imperative the Dutchman remains fit and does not aggravate his injuries this international break.
