Barcelona face off against Inter Milan in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tonight.
Fifteen years on from an unforgettable semi-final tie between the clubs, the two teams go head-to-head again in the last four. Either Arsenal or Paris Saint-Germain await in the final.
Barcelona are in pursuit of a treble, though will need to cope without leading scorer Robert Lewandowski tonight. The Poland international is sidelined with a hamstring injury and is doubtful to return for next week’s second leg.
Lewandowski joins Marc Bernal and Marc Casado as confirmed absentees. Elsewhere, Alejandro Balde will undergo a late fitness test, while Hansi Flick has confirmed that Wojciech Szczesny will continue in goal despite the return of Marc-Andre ter Stegen from injury.
Inter Milan are hopeful that Marcus Thuram can play a part this evening. The French forward has missed the last three games with a thigh issue.
Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are back after serving Serie A suspensions at the weekend, while Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski returned from injury against Roma on Sunday. Benjamin Pavard is a doubt after sustaining an ankle issue in the same fixture.

Barcelona secured the first leg of a potential treble at the weekend after lifting the Copa del Rey. Jules Kounde’s extra time goal secured a 3-2 victory over Real Madrid and Spanish Cup success.
Hansi Flick’s side have been in fantastic form since the turn of the year. The Catalans have lost just once in all competitions in 2025 – an immaterial second leg loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Barcelona have also scored at least once in their last 29 fixtures.
Inter Milan: WDLLL
Inter Milan’s own treble dream was ended last week after the Nerazzurri lost to AC Milan in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. That loss was sandwiched between back-to-back league defeats to Bologna and Roma, a run of form that has allowed Napoli to take control of the title race in Italy.
It’s the first time in eight years that Inter have lost three consecutive games in all competitions and the Serie A champions have also failed to score during that run. Inzaghi will demand his side rediscovers the defensive strength that has seen Inter concede just five times in 12 Champions League games this season.
Barcelona 3-3 Inter Milan, Champions League, 13th October 2022
A thrilling draw left Barcelona on the brink of a Champions League group-stage exit in 2022. Pitted together in a ‘Group of Death’ alongside Bayern Munich and Vitoria Plzen, Inter had edged the first group meeting 1-0 at the San Siro before an end-to-end return.
Barcelona took the lead through a well-worked Sergi Roberto goal, but Inter fought back to take control. The Italians equalised through Nicolo Barella’s fine finish, before Lautaro Martinez thumped in an effort off both posts to put Inter ahead.
Robert Lewandowski squeezed an effort past Andre Onana to level the game again, only for Robin Gosens to score in the 89th minute for the visitors. There was still time for another Barcelona equaliser as Lewandowski headed home in stoppage time, but the draw was damaging to hopes of progress.
Barcelona exited in the group, while Inter went on to reach the final.
Barcelona: Szczesny; Kounde, Cubarsi, Martinez, Martin; De Jong, Pedri; Yamal, Olmo, Raphinha; Torres.
Inter Milan: Sommer; Dumfries, Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni, Dimarco; Calhanoglu, Barella, Frattesi; Thuram, Martinez.
