Last night’s Bundesliga victory over Borussia Mönchengladbach moves Borussia Dortmund up to seventh place in the league table. With four fixtures remaining in the current campaign, die Schwarzgelben still stand a chance of salvaging what has been a tumultuous season as Niko Kovac’s BVB sit just four points adrift of the final Champions League spot.
Dortmund’s latest win translates to a four-match unbeaten run in the league. Kovac’s team also performed well in a midweek victory against Barcelona that regrettably couldn’t help them avoid Champions League elimination. Kovac, as well as BVB starting midfielders Pascal Groß and Felix Nmecha found themselves in an optimistic mood last night.
“This victory gives the team courage,” Groß told DAZN. “We are much more solid and stable as a team. I feel that we are relatively compact.”
“The three goals we scored were well worked chances,” Kovac added in his DAZN interview. “I would have liked for us to play more calmly. We’re definitely not where we want to be, but are headed in the right direction.“
“Every game is now a final for us,” Nmecha flatly stated. “Hopefully, we can still reach the Champions League.“
