Borussia Dortmund star’s exit clause revealed! | OneFootball

After scoring his eleventh, twelfth, and thirteenth UEFA Champions League goals this season, Serhou Guirassy and Borussia Dortmund crashed out of the competition. It was a valiant performance, but overturning a four-goal deficit was always going to be difficult.

Today, renowned Sky journalist Patrick Berger has confirmed that Serhou Guirassy, who has a contract until 2028, also has a release clause written into his contract. The exact fee is unknown, but it is believed to be somewhere between 60 and 75 million Euros, and the clause becomes valid after the Club World Cup.

According to Sky, the release clause would only be valid if certain powerhouse teams like Real Madrid or Chelsea come knocking, while the clause is not tied to anything performance-based. Dortmund’s potential lack of European football next season would not affect the clause.

Who will pay the price?

It’s still unclear whether or not any of the elite teams will pursue the Guinean this summer, or if Serhou Guirassy even has the desire to leave. He seems comfortable in Dortmund and does not appear to be in talks with any clubs.

In addition to his Champions League exploits, Serhous Guirassy scored fifteen goals in the Bundesliga and assisted one in 25 matches in his first season with Borussia Dortmund. He transferred to BVB from VfB Stuttgart last summer, for a fee of 17.5 million euros.

It would be a massive blow for Borussia Dortmund should Serhou Guirassy leave this summer, but if BVB can finagle a 50+ million euro profit from selling him, then the Black and Yellows might just be enticed, should any club trigger the clause.
