Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher could leave the club in the summer transfer window, and he won’t have any shortage of admirers.
Although Kelleher has proven himself to be an “outstanding” keeper for the Reds, he has struggled for regular game time because of Alisson Becker, who is arguably one of the best keepers in the world.
The 26-year-old has said many times that he wants to play regularly and has informed Liverpool chiefs that he wants to leave.
Since making his debut in September 2019, the Republic of Ireland international has made only 23 Premier League appearances. Virgil van Dijk has hailed him as a “world-class” goalkeeper, and he is clearly more than good enough to be warming the bench.
Liverpool are set to welcome Georgian star Giorgi Mamardashvili to Merseyside in the summer, and they are more likely to sell Kelleher to boost Arne Slot’s transfer kitty.
According to a report from talkSPORT, AFC Bournemouth are in pole position to secure his services, and they will make a move for him in the summer.
Andoni Iraola is keen to sign a new goalkeeper and has earmarked Kelleher as an option. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested, and Liverpool could encourage a bidding war for the goalkeeper.
Kelleher has a contract at Anfield until 2026, and Liverpool are expected to demand a fee of around £30 million for him.
He started in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United at Wembley last week, and it could be his final appearance for the club. Unless Alisson picks up an injury, the Brazilian goalkeeper will continue between the sticks in their remaining nine games.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in several Bournemouth players, such as Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen, and they may use Kelleher to secure deals for both of them.
