As reported by RNB, the English midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka might not be a Borussia Dortmund player next season. The young star, who is loaned to Black-and-Yellows from Chelsea until the end of the season, will not have his 35 million euro buy option triggered by BVB, as it was reported this Tuesday.
Despite his impressive cameos this season, Carney Chukwuemeka has been suffering from injury issues that have been preventing him from featuring on the squad at times. Even with recurring knee problems, the prodigy has made a name for himself as he has provided enjoyable minutes in the BVB jersey. His ball-carrying and play-making abilities have become an interesting alternative to manager Niko Kovač, who is a fan of the young Brit.
However, his stay at Dortmund seems to be in jeopardy. Even with previous reports claiming that the tendency was for him to stay, new information came up, and Chukwuemeka's future might be far away from Signal Iduna Park.
Also, according to RNB, another loan spell is an option for the Black-and-Yellows to keep him, but whether that is realistic or desired by the club will only become more evident at the end of the season. More specifically, Chukwuemeka's stay will depend on whether Borussia Dortmund can qualify for any European competitions next season.
If BVB qualifies, they will have more budget to make Chukwuemeka's permanent transfer more feasible or even have an argument to convince Chelsea to maintain him at the Westfalenstadion once he will be able to hopefully play Europe and football next season for Borussia Dortmund.
