Daniel Levy tells Ange Postecoglou what he expects this season

To put things extremely mildly, it has not been the season that anybody associated with Spurs wanted. Ange's side currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League, and were knocked out of both domestic cups in the space of three days last month.

So, unless they win the Europa League, Spurs are in for a bottom half finish and trophyless season - and you'll do well to find any fan that is confident of the European adventure culmunating in a trophy. Even if Spurs get past Frankfurt - which doesn't feel overly likely at the moment - there are still the likes of Athletic Bilbao, Lazio, and even Manchester United in the way.

Which is far from ideal for Ange, because according to a report from TBR Football, Daniel Levy has told him that he expects European football to be delivered as a minimum expectation for this season.

As it stands, the Premier League are set to get five Champions League spots for next season due to the coefficient, meaning eighth place in the league will get a European spot. However, despite that helping hand, Ange's side are currently eleven points behind eighth spot, taken up by Sunday's opponents Fulham.

So, unless Spurs go on a run similar to Ange's first ten games in charge, it is pretty much Europa League or bust - should that report prove to be correct. All in all, it is looking very bleak for his future at the club.

Even as an Ange defender, you can't argue with those that want him out. So, so badly wanted it to work out, You do with any manager, but Ange more than most.

Just having something different. After nearly four years of Jose Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte football, having someone who played completely different football was something extremely fresh.

Going from the tough to watch, reactive football of those three to the football Ange played early on was just a breath of fresh air. Funnily enough, the best move put together under Ange was probably the moment it all went wrong.

When Spurs played Chelsea in early November of 2023, a deflected effort from Dejan Kulusevski had given them the lead early on. Four minutes later, a superb, quick, one touch move resulted in Son sweeping an early cross into the bottom corner. However, replays suggested he was just, just offside.

That was absolutely peak AngeBall, something we have not seen enough off since. Quick, one touch passing that can slice open a team's shape. We actually saw it on Thursday evening against AZ Alkmaar, but in general it is a rarity these days.

Really, such a shame. Wanted it to work out so, so badly. Still, let's see what the Europa League may bring.
