Liam Delap has said he is keen to learn from Harry Kane after being drafted in to train with the England senior side.

Delap is part of the England u-21 squad ahead of their friendly fixtures with France and Portugal this month. However, the Ipswich Town striker has been invited to train with the senior side after an impressive Premier League campaign.

Delap has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in a struggling Ipswich side, attracting interest from Premier League rivals in the process.

The 22-year-old has thrived amid his first full season in the Premier League, following his arrival from Manchester City last summer. After being invited to join the seniors alongside u-21 teammates Adam Wharton and Taylor Harwood-Bellis this week, Delaps is now keen to benefit from training alongside England’s best.

He called England captain Harry Kane a role model and said working alongside the Bayern Munich forward is ‘an incredible experience’. Delap added that he is keen to learn from Kane and said the 31-year-old is ‘the best he’s seen’ when it comes to shooting drills.

“He’s someone I’ve looked up to for ages. He’s got everything. He’s had the most amazing career and he’s still flying. To watch him live is an incredible experience,” Delap said.

“I had a little chat with him, he’s a really nice guy. I watched him enough in the shooting drill to take so much from him and he’s just incredible. Just everything goes in. It’s the best I’ve seen.”
