Jeremy Doku says he and his Manchester City team-mates will work tirelessly to give Kevin De Bruyne a fitting farewell at the Club.

The 33-year-old playmaker will leave the Blues at the end of the season, bringing his illustrious 10-year stay at the Etihad Stadium to an end.

Since his arrival in the summer of 2015, De Bruyne has won a staggering 19 major honours with City and has the chance to raise that tally to 20 before the curtain falls on the current campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side lock horns with Crystal Palace in the 2025 FA Cup final while also relentlessly pursuing a place in next term’s Champions League with four Premier League matches remaining.

And Doku believes an icon of the game such as De Bruyne has created long-lasting memories for those associated with City.

“He's a legend here, he's a legend and he's won a lot of trophies,” Doku declared.

“He’ll leave a lot of great memories. The fans are crazy about him and that's normal because he's given so much to this Club.

“He's won a lot of trophies. When I look at the team, he's the guy who was always there.

“He was the first, in fact, here, between all of us. He was even here before Pep. So, he really is a legend here and he deserves a lot of respect.

“There’s still the FA Cup to play for. We're going to give everything so that he can leave with a trophy, and, in any case, he deserves a lot of respect for everything he's done for this Club.

“He's a legend, as I said.”

Next up for City is a meeting with Wolves on Friday 2 May, with kick-off at the Etihad Stadium scheduled for 20:00 (UK).

It’s the first of our final four top-flight matches this term and the Blues currently occupy the fourth of five Champions League qualification spots with 61 points after 34 games.

However, only five points separate Aston Villa in seventh and Newcastle in third as the race for European football reaches fever pitch.

And with Guardiola’s team embroiled in the fierce battle for the top five, Doku believes the quality of the teams fighting at the top of the Premier League is improving each season.

He added: “This year we've really understood that qualifying for the Champions League isn't something you just do every year.

“Now we can really see how difficult it is to be in the top four.

“In fact, it's not easy. Every year it gets harder. There are teams like Nottingham Forest this year.

“Teams who come from nowhere, who are also there and who everyone wants to beat for the Champions League.

“And that's where we really see how important it is to be at the same level every year. Fortunately, there are five places. We're still in the driving seat.

“There are four games left and it's up to us to win all of them to make sure we're in the Champions League. Because this club needs that.”
