Henrikh Mkhitaryan says that Inter Milan still have the ambition to finish the season with trophies despite their recent struggles.
The 36-year-old spoke to UEFAtv, via FCInterNews. He stressed the Nerazzurri’s ambitions despite a string of poor results.
Inter Milan have now lost three matches in a row across all competitions.
Coming after the high point of the Nerazzurri’s aggregate victory over Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarterfinals, this has certainly been a massive collision with reality.
Inter are now out of the Coppa Italia. Therefore, they cannot win the Treble this season.
And the fact that this came about due to a humiliating 0-3 loss to city rivals AC Milan made it all the worst.
Moreover, losses against Bologna and Roma mean that Napoli are now in the driver’s seat to win the Serie A title.

It hasn’t just been the defeats for Inter. It has also been the manner of them.
The Nerazzurri have looked completely out of gas after their exertions against Bayern in the Champions League.
And Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been one player who clearly hasn’t quite recovered from the tie against Bayern. But he believes great things are possible for he and the team.
“At first it wasn’t that I was struggling,” said Mkhitaryan. “But I wasn’t in great condition.”
“Then match after match I improved and now I’m at my best.”
“I thank my teammates and the coaching staff,” the Armenian said. “Who’ve helped me reach the levels I was used to being at.”
Mkhitaryan added that “It’s been a tough season, but we want to win trophies, because we have a great team.”
Meanwhile, the former Manchester United and Arsenal midfielder expects that the Champions League semifinal tie against Barcelona “won’t be easy.”
“Because they have great young talents. But also very experienced player.”
“It will be very interesting. Because semifinals and finals are always brilliant to play in, and to watch.”

Meanwhile, Henrikh Mkhitaryan also gave his thought on his relationship with his Inter coach Simone Inzaghi.
“My relationship with him is very good,” the Armenian said.
“I know when to be serious, and when to joke around.”
“I know where that boundary is,” said Mkhitaryan.
The 36-year-old went on that “I’m happy to have met him at this stage of my career.”
“Because coming to Inter at age 33 wasn’t easy. This is the age at which performances start to decline.”
“But I’m grateful to [Inzaghi],” Mkhitaryan declared. “Because I’m still able to play and show my quality to myself and to the whole world.”
