There is a lot of work to do at FC Barcelona, both on the field and away from it as well. After all, no competitive squad can be put on the pitch if there is no planning or work done on it behind the scenes. Fortunately for Barcelona, the club is quite invested in improving the team as much as possible.

However, they have to keep in mind their financial limitations as well. The club is still not in a position to just pursue every player that they like, and they are required to be much more careful and methodical in terms of which profiles and players they end up going after.

At the same time, however, they also need to sort out player renewals and give them priority as well when needed. Certain players are simply way too valuable and important to the team and their renewals seem like guarantees, but others can manage to win over the coaches and sporting sector of the club with sheer commitment as well.

Barcelona looking to extend the stay of Eric Garcia

One such player is Eric Garcia, who has initially persuaded by Hansi Flick to remain at the club this season. Now, as per sources close to Sempre Barca, the club is aiming to renew his current contract ahead of time, given that it is set to expire in 2026.

Thanks to his versatility and the character that he has shown in recent seasons, even during his loan spell at Girona, have earned him such a consideration. Moreover, Hansi Flick himself is an advocate in terms of renewing the 24-year-old Spanish player’s contract due to the value that he provides to the team.

Other clubs are also interested in him

Interestingly, however, other clubs have been keeping an eye on the player as well. The likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan are both reportedly interested in adding the player to their respective squads, and other sides such as Real Sociedad, Real Betis, Girona, and Italian club Como are also interested in his services.

A potential transfer could prove to be a positive source of revenue for the club, especially considering the fact that Eric Garcia originally joined Barcelona as a free agent. However, as per the information available, the club remains convinced that renewing him is the right idea and Barça Director Deco is also supporting that move.
