A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has this week come in for some altogether lofty praise.

The player in question? Pedri.

Midfielder Pedri, for his part, is of course in the midst of nothing short of a sensational individual campaign to date.

Having seemingly put his long-standing fitness woes firmly behind him, the 22-year-old has looked back to his brilliant best, standing out as one of world football’s best in his role.

And one individual on whom such ongoing excellence has not been lost comes in the form of Thiago Alcântara.

Speaking during an appearance in front of the media on Tuesday, ex-Barca midfielder Thiago was asked for his take on Pedri’s talents.

And the 34-year-old, in quotes gathered by beIN Sports, did not hold back in his praise:

“Pedri is an incredible player, whom I consider not only the best midfielder in the world, but also one of the best players in the world, if not the best at the moment.”
