Agent receives ‘lucrative’ offers for Taylor’s signature

The Irishman had hoped to keep the former Kilmarnock defender in his first-team squad for next season. However, those expectations have diminished as clubs across Europe have put forward more ‘lucrative’ offers for the left-back.

According to a report in Daily Record, Dinamo Zagreb have gone all out in their efforts to secure Taylor’s signature and suggests that the Croatian club is optimistic about completing a deal for him.

Dinamo Zagreb boss Fabio Cannavaro attempted to sign him during the January window, but the clubs couldn’t reach an agreement. Greg Taylor is now looking to continue his career abroad and is eager for a new challenge. The report also indicates that Taylor has opportunities available in the United States.

Greg Taylor will leave Celtic after six trophy-laden years

It is completely understandable that Taylor, who after six trophy-laden years at Celtic wishes to move on in the summer – and that’s something the Hoops support should come to terms with. Brendan Rodgers also confirmed at the weekend that the sticking point in any Celtic deal is NOT financial, it’s simply down to guarantees on playing time which clearly cannot be met with the club bringing back Kieran Tierney.

For someone who moved to the club at 21 years of age, he will leave Celtic as a mature, experienced defender with European experience, international caps and his fair share of medals.

Taylor adapted brilliantly to Ange Postecoglou’s tactical change

As Tierney returns, Taylor would have to move down the pecking order, therefore a move to a side where he will be guaranteed to play week in week out is laudable. Initially  under-appreciated within the Celtic support, Taylor adapted to the inverted full-back role introduced by Ange Postecoglou brilliantly and grew in stature in the eyes of the Celtic support as a result. He should depart with all our best wishes.

That being said, Rodgers must replace Taylor in the summer transfer window. Jeffrey Schlupp may be that man, but Celtic’s recruitment department must prioritise left-back if and when Taylor exits the club.
