We looked at how much midfielder Regan Slater is currently earning at Hull City amid speculation linking him with a summer move.

Hull City could be vulnerable to losing midfielder Regan Slater in the summer if they are relegated amid reports that he is attracting interest from a number of Championship clubs.

Slater came through the academy at Sheffield United, and he captained the club's youth team, but he only made three senior appearances for the Blades, spending time out on loan at Carlisle United and Scunthorpe United before initially joining Hull on a temporary basis in September 2020.

The 25-year-old then returned to the MKM Stadium permanently in January 2022, and it seems that his performances have caught the eye of his former club, with Sportsboom claiming this week that United are considering making a move to bring Slater back to Bramall Lane in the summer.

However, the Blades are not the only Championship club keen on Slater, with Middlesbrough, Stoke City and Derby County also reportedly interested in the midfielder, who is said to be "likely to consider his options" if the Tigers are relegated this season.

It has been a nightmare season for Hull, and they currently sit 20th in the table, just three points above the relegation zone, so the threat of dropping into League One is becoming increasingly real for the East Yorkshire outfit.

Slater helped Hull to the League One title during his loan spell at the club in the 2020-21 season, so it was little surprise when he returned to the MKM Stadium on a permanent basis midway through the following campaign.

The Tigers' decision to bring Slater back to the club has certainly been a good one, and he was voted Player of the Year by both his team-mates and supporters in the 2022-23 season after scoring five goals and providing six assists in 46 games.

Slater continued to play a key role last term as Hull narrowly missed out on the play-off places under Liam Rosenior, and he has been a regular starter for much of this season under both Tim Walter and Ruben Selles, although he has found himself on the bench in the last few weeks.

It is fair to say that Slater has not quite been able to produce his best form consistently this season, scoring just one goal and registering one assist in 40 appearances so far, and he has come in for criticism from supporters at times, but he is far from the only Tigers player to underperform in what has been an incredibly disappointing campaign for the club.

Slater's underwhelming season does not seem to have put off other clubs, with Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Stoke and Derby all believed to be admirers of the midfielder, but he is under contract with Hull until the summer of 2026, and the club have the option to extend for a further year, so they will likely demand a substantial fee for his services.

However, Tigers owner Acun Ilicali has previously stated that he will not deny any of his players a move if they wish to leave, which he proved last summer by sanctioning the departures of the likes of Jacob Greaves and Jaden Philogene.

As speculation about Slater's future continues to gather pace, we looked at how much he is currently earning at Hull.

Regan Slater's wages at Hull City amid Sheffield United, Stoke and Derby talk

According to Capology, Slater takes home £10,000 per week and £520,000 per year at Hull, although it should be stressed that those figures are an estimate.

The Tigers' joint-highest paid players are Steven Alzate and Joao Pedro, who both earn £25,000 per week, followed by Lincoln (£23,500 per week), Matt Crooks (£17,500 per week) and John Egan, Eliot Matazo, Gustavo Puerta, Nordin Amrabat, Liam Millar and Joe Gelhardt (all £15,000 per week).

Ilicali has certainly shown during his time as Hull owner that he is not afraid to invest in the squad, so he would likely be willing to raise Slater's salary in order to keep hold of him, but if the club are relegated to League One, they may need to cut their cloth accordingly, and the income from his sale could help to balance the books.

With Sheffield United looking in a strong position to achieve promotion to the Premier League, a move to Bramall Lane would likely see Slater's wages increase the most, but Middlesbrough and Stoke are both known for paying big salaries to players in the Championship.
