Bristol Rovers are fighting for their lives at the foot of League One.

The Gas have endured a highly frustrating season, having taken a step backwards from their 15th-placed finish in the third tier last term.

Matt Taylor was relieved of his duties in December, and results haven't been able to pick up under his successor, Inigo Calderon.

Therefore, regardless of whether they're operating as a League One or League Two club next season, Rovers are facing a summer transfer window of critical importance.

"Don't go over the top" - Bristol Rovers' dream summer transfer window outlined

We asked our Bristol Rovers fan pundit, Ziggy Carter: 'What would a dream summer 2025 transfer window look like for your club?'

Carter said: "I'm more believing now that we will go down to League Two.

"So, I think our dream transfer window will be about making a team that will be able to go straight back up to League One.

"I think the owners have the money for it, but I'm hoping they don't go over the top, and they sign proven League Two players that can make a difference to the team.

"I think, because of the consistency; for example this season we lost six games in a row most recently, but before that we beat Huddersfield and Bolton both at home.

"So, I think finding consistent players at League Two level to build a good team to go up, and that will allow us to, when in League One, stay in League One and push on."

Quality over quantity is probably the best course of action for Bristol Rovers this summer

Regardless of whether they are operating as a League One or League Two club next season, Bristol Rovers certainly need to add more quality to their side this summer.

The Gas have really been struggling at both ends of the pitch this term, as their lack of cutting edge in attack and a leaky defence has made it difficult for the team to ever truly be ahead of the eight-ball in games.

However, despite their struggles in the league, Rovers supporters will have been enthused by the performances and development of some of their young talent.

21-year-old goalkeeper Jed Ward has been putting in some highly impressive displays after being recalled from his loan spell with National League side Forest Green, following Josh Griffiths' loan return to West Brom in February.

Meanwhile, teenage midfielder Kofi Shaw has been turning the heads of some big clubs thanks to his performances since being recalled from Yeovil Town in February, with Burnley, Brentford and Brighton & Hove Albion all understood to be tracking the 17-year-old.

Other youngsters such as Kamil Konteh and Connor Taylor have both enjoyed highly fruitful individual campaigns too, and as such, leaning into their talented crop of young players could be a blueprint for success moving forward for Rovers.

As such, building around that young core with the additions of some quality experienced heads may well be the way to go in the transfer market this summer for Bristol Rovers.
