Lautaro Martinez couldn’t hide his enthusiasm after Inter Milan beat Bayern Munich 2-1 in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews, El Toro urged his teammates not to take this win for granted ahead of the return leg in Italy.
Simone Inzaghi oversaw another dream European performance from the Nerazzurri.
Indeed, Inter did not just tame Bayern Munich’s star-studded attack.
They also showed incredible pace and quality in transition, creating several clear-cut chances on either side of halftime.
Lautaro Martinez fired the reigning Serie A champions in front midway through the second half.
Furthermore, Marcus Thuram registered a delightful assist before the Argentine struck home a superb finish.
Though Bayern drew level through Thomas Muller late in the game, Inter snatched a last-gasp winner.
Who else but Davide Frattesi?
The Italian came off the bench to score a trademark goal, bursting into the channel to pounce on Carlos Augusto’s delivery.
As a result, the Italian heavyweights have set one foot in the semi-finals.

“Hugely important,” Lautaro stated. “It’s a win that comes after the draw in Parma — we needed to prove something.
“We talked a lot; we know we didn’t play well in Parma.
“If we want to win, we have to leave that behind and take today’s performance as an example.
“It was a complete match in every way: character, personality, and quality.
“We did well in possession against a great team with strong players.
“I’m happy because once again the lads proved, in a big stadium against a top team, that they’re worthy of this shirt.”
Asked what Inter should do to seal their semi-final qualification, Lautaro replied: “The same.
“Today we kept a lot of possession in the first half and they struggled.
“Now we focus on the league, then on the Champions League, but we have to recover quickly because we’ve got a lot of matches ahead.”
Finally, he described the goal that set the tone for Inter’s monumental win.
“I won a challenge in midfield, then I saw the space and Marcus gave me a great ball,” Lautaro claimed.
“I wanted to shoot with my left, but there were too many players in front, so I switched feet.
“It was a nice goal, and it helped us take the lead.”
