Inter Milan travel to Barcelona tonight in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final tie.
Simeone Inzaghi’s side are bidding to reach the Champions League final for the second time in three seasons, after defeat to Manchester City in the 2023 decider.
The Italians have impressed in Europe this season, conceding just five goals in 12 games. Their strong defensive record is sure to be tested tonight, against a Barcelona team who are the competition’s league scorers (37).
Inter head into the contest in poor form. The Nerazzurri have lost three consecutive games in all competitions to exit the Coppa Italia and fall three points behind Napoli in the Serie A title race.
Marcus Thuram is hoping to return tonight after a three-game absence with a thigh injury. The French forward remains doubtful but will hope to take his place alongside Lautaro Martinez in attack. The latter has scored in five consecutive Champions League games.
Benjamin Pavard is also doubtful after suffering an ankle issue at the weekend, though both Denzel Dumfries and Piotr Zielinski returned to action against Roma. Inzaghi can also call upon Alessandro Bastoni and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who missed the weekend defeat to Roma through suspension.
Inter predicted XI: Sommer; Dumfries, Bisseck, Acerbi, Bastoni, Dimarco; Calhanoglu, Barella, Frattesi; Thuram, Martinez.
