The question of where German footballing legend Thomas Müller will continue his career after the season concludes continues to trend. Sport Bild reports that two Serie A sides have registered interest in the Bayern Munich man. Only one, Fiorentina, is named. La Viola signed former Bayern players Mario Gomez and Franck Ribery after their contracts expired.
The German tabloid does not explicitly rule out the potential of a move to America’s MLS. Müller could remain in the USA after competing with Bayern in the coming summer Club World Cup. MLS sides San Diego, Cincinnati FC, Chicago Fire, LA Galaxy, and even the New York Red Bulls have interest in the 35-year-old.
A move to the Serie A or another European league may nevertheless attract Müller more as the notoriously competitive footballer presumably still wishes to compete at a high level. Keeping matters closer to home in his native Bavaria, where Müller operates a horse ranch, might also appeal to him more.
Müller’s fellow 2014 World Cup winner (and indeed fellow German footballing legend) Mats Hummels moved south to Italy last year. Hummels’ proximity and proven performance at a high level surely plays a role in the rumours linking him with a brief return to Borussia Dortmund this summer.
