Juventus turned to Igor Tudor not only because of his attachment to the team, because he was one of the best options available on the market and was willing to accept a contract with little guarantees for the future, but also because he has become accustomed to taking over teams midseason and has been quite good at it, Corriere dello Sport relays (via Tuttomercatoweb).
He’s one of the only six gaffers who have managed over 50 matches in this particular fashion in Serie A in recent years. He has the highest point average of the lot, 1.63, having tallied 26 wins and 18 draws in 59 fixtures.
Tudor will look to replicate at Juventus the same thing he did at Lazio in 2023/2024. He was appointed with 9 matches to go and picked up 18 points the rest of the way. The Biancocelesti were the second-best-performing team in that stretch, on par with Inter and just trailing only Atalanta.
According to TuttoSport, the Croatian boss has been working on two schemes in the last few days: 3-4-2-1 and 3-4-1-2. Dusan Vlahovic and Randal Kolo Muani would star together in the latter, but the choice for the Genoa tilt will go down to the wire. Nico Gonzalez and Weston McKennie should adapt to the wing-back role initially.
Manuel Locatelli and Khephren Thuram will continue to be the linchpins of the midfield. Teun Koopmeiners and Kenan Yildiz will play as no.10s. Tudor has to deal with a pair of injury concerns and late returns from international duties. Andrea Cambiaso and Douglas Luiz have both been ruled out due to an ankle and a thigh issue respectively.
