Getting a strong start to matches has been key for Inter Milan along their strong run in the Champions League.

Inter Milan have certainly left their mark in the Champions League this season.

The Nerazzurri beat Bayern Munich in the first leg of a quarterfinal tie this week. And they will feel confident that they’re capable of seeing the tie out and booking their place in the final four.

And a key part of Inter’s win against Bayern was that they scored in the first half.

Scoring first was always going to have a huge impact on the momentum, whichever team did it.

And that goal gave Inter Milan something to protect. As well as real self-belief in the tie.

Bayern did manage to score late in the match. But by that point, Inter had firmly established themselves, and frustrated the Bavarians – a platform for Davide Frattesi’s late winner.

And it was not the first time that Inter have scored the first goal in a Champions League match this season.

Or that it has come in the first half of a match.

Far from it, FCIN highlight, there has only been one match out of Inter’s last eight in the competition where they have not managed to score before halftime.

That was in a loss away to Bayern Munich.
