The summer transfer window is going to be an interesting one. On one hand, it is clear that Celtic need to further strengthen their squad, having lost back-to-back Glasgow Derbies recently. On the other hand, there is a possibility that some of their key players could leave at the end of the campaign. Could one of them head to the Rangers?

It has been rare for players to move from Celtic to the Rangers, or vice versa. It is not hard to understand why.

If you make that jump, your time and achievements with the previous club become meaningless instantly in the eyes of the supporters. That is the last thing that most players want.

But that has not stopped Kris Boyd from urging the Rangers to consider making an offer to a Celtic player, whose contract is running out in the summer. We are talking about none other than Greg Taylor, who is likely to depart Parkhead soon.

While speaking to The Scottish Sun, Boyd said:

"If you’re Rangers, would you offer Greg Taylor a contract? Just when you think of Yilmaz, Jefte, I think Greg Taylor has shown for a consistent period of time how consistent he has been. If he’s not going to be at Celtic, he said he wants to play regular. You see him switch sides in Glasgow?"

Boyd further expanded upon his thoughts, as he said:

"It’s a genuine question. I know the rivalry between the two clubs but if Brendan Rodgers has said he’s going to move on for regular football. For me, he’s Scottish, he ticks a box."

It is hard to imagine that Taylor would end up joining the Rangers. He has spent six seasons playing for Celtic, most of them as a starter, and won a lot of silverware during that period of time. Would he want to risk that legacy by moving to Ibrox?

On the contrary, there have been suggestions that Taylor could be looking to move abroad. Dinamo Zagreb, who Celtic faced in the Champions League this season, have been suggested as a potential destination for the Scottish international.

The best-case scenario for Celtic would have been Taylor staying. But one can understand why he might want to leave rather than stay on as a cover option to Kieran Tierney at this point in his career.
