Luckhurst confirms the £199m trio Amorim is willing to sacrifice to sanction Delap and Cunha’s arrivals

INEOS are preparing to shell out a total of £92.5 million to grant Ruben Amorim his first two summer signings as soon as the window opens.

Indeed, Manchester United hope to complete a double swoop of in-form Premier League duo Liam Delap (£30m or £40m if Ipswich Town somehow stay up) and Matheus Cunha (£62.5m) early doors this summer.

The two players having release clauses in their contracts make for what should be straightforward deals, as their clubs will have little to no say in the matter as long as the fee is paid.

Yet, in order to sanction their arrivals, sales will be crucial to replenish the transfer kitty for such a hefty spend.

As per Samuel Luckhurst (via the Manchester Evening News), United have three players ready to offload in order to raise early funds when June rolls around: Antony (bought for £86m), Jadon Sancho (£73m) and Marcus Rashford.

Sancho’s impending departure should, realistically, be the most uncomplicated of the lot, as Chelsea have now met all the obligations of their buy clause and will therefore need to pay United £25m at the end of his loan spell – unless they take the controversial route of paying a £5m penalty to avoid signing the winger, whose form has faltered since the turn of the year.

Aston Villa have the option of making Rashford’s move permanent upon the culmination of 2024/2025 but it’s entirely up to them. He has enjoyed a stellar spell since swapping his boyhood club for the Midlands outfit, although it remains to be seen if Unai Emery and the team’s key decision-makers think he’s worth £40m – plus whatever wages he demands, given he currently takes home a reported £350,000 per week.

As for Antony, there were no clauses at all included in his contract when he bid farewell to Manchester and headed to Seville to join Real Betis in January. However, he has looked something of a player reborn in his new surroundings and could force the Betis board’s hand into meeting United’s demands and acquiring him on a long-term contract.
